Background:

This workshop is part of a recently concluded technical assistance (TA) project that analyzed SCP financing options for SMEs across Asia. The scoping study covered national legislation, government programmes, international financing initiatives, and contributions from banks, fintech companies, incubators, and other relevant networks. The countries reviewed included: Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bangladesh, India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Lao PDR. The study that was conducted within the framework of this project assessed trends and emerging initiatives related to climate, circularity, and sustainability in three key countries.

This workshop is open to all SWITCH-Asia stakeholders, particularly SWITCH-Asia grant organisations, National Focal Points, and interested organisations and individuals. The expert facilitator will provide an overview of financial institutions and programmes that support circular economy initiatives in various countries. Additionally, the expert will share insights from country-specific analyses, highlighting the intersections between Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) and climate finance, as well as noteworthy legislative initiatives.

Participants are encouraged to identify and discuss relevant topics within their national contexts, share their information needs, and explore ways to address them. The session will conclude with a discussion on potential activities to support SCP financing.
