Background:
As Central Asian countries prepare their next round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), there is a critical need to mainstream Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) and Circular Economy (CE) approaches into climate strategies. Resource efficiency and material flow management offer tangible opportunities to decouple economic growth from emissions and environmental degradation, enabling countries to meet their climate goals while enhancing economic resilience and regional cooperation. This parallel session, in the framework of CACCC-2025, provides a timely platform to showcase practical experiences, policy innovation, and financing mechanisms that connect material resource efficiency with climate ambition, while supporting a just transition toward a green economy.
Objectives:
This session aims to explore the synergies between material resource efficiency, climate action, and green economy transition in Central Asia by facilitating technical knowledge exchange and stakeholder dialogue. The event will also identify key areas for policy and investment interventions to integrate circular economy principles into climate strategies, inclusive of NDC implementation plans and climate financing roadmaps.
Target Audience: The meeting will be attended by policymakers, climate and SCP experts, private sector representatives, international organisations, and regional stakeholders.
