Enabling Circular Business Development and Investment

The ASEAN Circular Economy Business Alliance (ACEBA) has entered the next stage to support circular business development and investment in particular in small and medium enterprises in Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand. This starts with enabling enterprises to determine their current understanding of and activities towards cirular economy (CE), for which the Circular Business Check is developed and being piloted.

The Circular Business Check aims to become a self-assessment tool leading to a balanced circular business score and further customised guidance for advancing CE within the assessed enterprise.

The Circular Business Check would also point to potential  further support needs, e.g., for CE-driven product and business development; for planning and starting the CE business transition; or for scaling up and commercialising innovative circular solutions. ACEBA is working towards offering further training and mentoring initiatives to address such support needs.

Getting your business started

To kick off these business support initiatives, ACEBA is hosting a series of introductory national online starter workshops under its partnership with the East Asia Business Council.  These aim to:

  • Provide an East Asian centric introduction to CE, and the opportunities this presents for responsible business development;
  • To share, discuss and learn from good CE-relevant business practices from Southeast Asia; and
  • Introduce the Circular Business Check and invite business participants to participate in its pilot testing and follow up initiatives.

Target participants:

The starter workshop is designed to support small and medium enterprises in Indonesia, particularly, but not limited to, those operating in the following sectors:

  • Food and beverage
  • Textile and garments
  • Leather and footwear
  • Furniture and homewares
  • Electric and electronic products
  • Building and construction
