Background

The Asia-Pacific Housing Forum is a biennial conference organised by Habitat for Humanity to bring together stakeholders engaged in finding inclusive and innovative solutions for shelter issues and in promoting affordable housing as a driver of economic growth. The 9th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum will be held in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) on October 26-27, 2023 in Suwon, Republic of Korea.

Why Attend

For more than a decade, the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum has gathered under one roof major stakeholders engaged in seeking solutions to affordable housing issues and promote decent housing as a driver of economic growth.

The Asia-Pacific Housing Forum is a sector convener to enhance cooperation among relevant stakeholders within the region and move forward innovative and inclusive affordable housing solutions for slums and informal settlements, in response to the growing inequities in the region.

Connect with over 300 changemakers (industry experts, business and policy leaders, government representatives, nongovernment organizations, startups, among others) to enable and empower resilient cities by fostering sustainable solutions, technologies, and best practices. Engage in critical conversations on safe and secure shelter with practitioners and policymakers. Be inspired by stories of purpose, hope, and impact.

* While participation in the ninth Asia-Pacific Housing Forum is free, the forum's secretariat will be approving registrations due to limited seats. We encourage all who are interested to secure funding and support before registering for the event.

Forum Tracks

The need for adequate housing solutions in the Asia-Pacific region is immense, and further complicated by rapid urbanisation, rising inequalities and aging populations.

8th Asia-Pacific Urban Forum: Cross-Learning and Cooperation

When:  23-25 October 2023  I   Where: Suwon Convention Center, South Korea   I   Register here   I    Official website

For the first time, the Asia-Pacific Housing Forum will take place alongside the 8th Asia-Pacific Urban Forum (APUF)

For the past three decades, the Asia-Pacific Urban Forum has played a pivotal role in convening the region's premier multi-stakeholder forum on sustainable urban development. The 8th Asia-Pacific Urban Forum (APUF-8) will be held from 23 to 25 October 2023 in Suwon City, Republic of Korea. The Forum brings together the experiences of diverse stakeholders to reflect on the colliding crises faced by cities in Asia and the Pacific, synthesize innovative approaches and actions to support sustainable urban development in the context of the New Urban Agenda and the decade for action for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sessions will draw unique insights from urban thought leaders, government officials and major stakeholder groups, based on real-world experiences of resilience-building and transformation through and beyond the pandemic.

APUF-8 is co-organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) and Suwon City, in strategic partnership with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea, and in cooperation with UN-Habitat, Habitat for Humanity International and CityNet as well as a range of supporting partner organisations.
